Hudson’s Restaurant, located in the midst of beautiful gardens on the Vredenheim Wine Estate alongside the R310 near Stellenbosch, is a great country restaurant in a picturesque setting with views of the Helderberg Mountains. Offering fine food, friendly service and a great environment to socialise and enjoy an outing, Hudson’s Restaurant is a must-visit eatery in the countryside just outside Stellenbosch town proper.
Summers are a treat at Hudson’s – rolling lawns, beautiful gardens, little streams that flow into a lake and gazebos with pretty roses all provide an environment to roll out a blanket and enjoy a well-prepared Hudson’s picnic basket with family and friends. Lunch is alternatively served under the umbrellas which provide welcome shade on Stellenbosch’s sultry hot summer days.
Winter at Hudson’s, equally, is an experience not to be missed – enjoy a roaring log fire and delicious cooking in the cosy ambience of the restaurant. You will still be able to enjoy all the views of the surrounding scenery through the large windows which line the front of the restaurant.
Hudson’s Restaurant serves delicious breakfasts and lunches, and tasty treats for morning and afternoon teas. Hudson’s deluxe picnic basket includes a selection of cold meats and salads, fresh bread & butter, a platter of six cheeses, biscuits & preserves, fresh fruit & home-made muffins – order a day ahead of your visit to enjoy a picnic in the gardens. A vegetarian basket is available upon request. A Children’s Bunny Bucket, with hot-dog, crisps, juice and sweeties, is also available for the little ones.
The antique bar at Hudson’s Restaurant, adjacent to the function room, is hand-crafted from Burmese teak and served as the ticket counter at Cape Town railway station for 111 years. Fully stocked with wine, beer, soft drinks, spirits and liqueurs and staffed by the enthusiastic bar tenders, this attractive feature bar adds to any occasion.
Hudson’s Restaurant is open daily Mondays to Thursdays from 09h00 – 17h00 and Fridays to Sundays from 08h00 – 17h00.
